On 15 January 2015, the application process for GSP 2015 expired. Selection of the new batch will be completed by mid-February. All applicants who are eligible for the programme will be issued a certificate in order to apply for a visa. Candidates admitted into the programme will be informed in the second half of February.
Prof. Dr. Hermann Schwengel passed away on 7 December 2014. The founder of GSP and senior professor at Humboldt University was never able to start his post-retirement position. The GSP steering committee met in Bangkok to discuss the next steps of further integration of research into the curriculum of the programme. Focus was the new PhD programme including options for long-term scholarships.
Between 14 and 16 October 2014, scholars from Southeast Asia and GSP partner institutions discussed the future of democracy against the background of recent upheavals, protests and coups.
