In order to apply for the Master in Global Studies, you have to register online (see below).

The application period for intake in April 2018 will commence at the end of November/beginning of December 2017. Please check here for the most current information regarding application dates.

The application process is lengthy so please allow sufficient time to complete it. We strongly recommend sending your application at least 2 weeks ahead of the official deadline.

German citizens apply at (for information regarding deadlines and the application procedure please visit the Admissions Hotline and consult the Academic Calendar). German citizens with a degree from abroad, please consult the information here.

Non-German citizens must apply at The Global Studies Programme will become visible on the Uni-Assist website during the period mentioned above. Please click here and here for more information regarding the application procedure for non-German applicants (the Compass Hotline offers assistance with the application process in German, English, Spanish, Italian and French). In addition to completing the online application with Uni-Assist, you must mail hard copies of your application materials. These must reach Uni-Assist by the deadline mentioned above. All university and language certificates need to be certified: Certification standards as defined by Uni-Assist are to be found here: please strictly abide to their regulations!

Your application will pass an administrative check, and then you will receive confirmation that you could (but this is no guarantee) be admitted for the programme. With this confirmation you can apply for a German visa if you need one. You should do so immediately after receiving the information, because it can take a significant amount of time to receive the visa. It is the student's responsibility to apply for the visa, so you should consult with the German Embassy in your country for details regarding the visa application procedure.
